Function
Paclitaxel is a monomer diterpene extracted from the bark of taxus, a natural plant. It is a complex secondary metabolite and the only known drug that can promote and stabilize the polymerized microtubules.Isotopic tracers indicate that paclitaxel binds only to the polymerized tubules and does not react with the unpolymerized tubuloprotein dimer.Cells exposed to paclitaxel accumulate a large number of microtubules, which interfere with the cell's various functions, especially by stopping cell division at the mitotic stage and preventing normal cell division.Through the II-III clinical research, paclitaxel is mainly suitable for ovarian cancer and breast cancer, to lung cancer, colorectal cancer, melanoma, head and neck cancer, lymphoma, brain tumors also has certain curative effect.
Application
